New works for Living Canvas at Wilton Park
New works for Living Canvas at Wilton Park – Europe’s largest outdoor screen for digital art Spring programme for open-air gallery features Aoife Dunne and a host of other exciting digital artists.
IPUT Real Estate, Ireland’s leading property company and visionary supporter of the arts, today launched the new Spring Programme for Living Canvas at Wilton Park, sited on the banks of the Grand Canal in Dublin. Showcasing the best digital art in Ireland today, the Spring programme features exciting new commissions and more work by Ireland’s leading digital artists.
Cutting edge Irish artist, Aoife Dunne headlines the new Living Canvas schedule with a brand-new work, ‘BRAIN CHAMBER’. Commissioned by IPUT especially for the huge LED screen, and evolving daily over the course of a week, Aoife’s work invites us to imagine and experience what it might be like to be trapped within technology.
The new programme also includes works by Bassam Al Sabah, Aideen Barry, John Beattie, Alan Butler, Barbara Knezevic, Claire Langan and Ailbhe Ni Bhriain. Over the coming months it will constantly evolve, with new work to come from internationally renowned artist and composer, Brian Eno. There are also plans to feature a community workshop.
Right now, Irish artists are leading the international field in digital art and Dubliners have warmly welcomed Living Canvas since the public art installation was launched last November. Digital art is increasingly in the media, from NFTs to the work of an emerging generation who have made this form their own. Living Canvas at Wilton Park puts Dublin, and Ireland, firmly on the international map, and at the core of these new conversations.
According to Niall Gaffney, CEO, IPUT Real Estate:
We are very proud to say that Living Canvas at Wilton Park is a European First. The screen perfectly focuses attention on this part of our city which is rich with cultural credentials. We hope to attract thousands of visitors over the coming summer months to enjoy what is a novel and compelling visual art experience.
Programmed with support from the Royal Hibernian Academy, the Museum of Literature Ireland, and the Arts Office of Dublin City Council, and realised by Algorithm, Living Canvas is part of IPUT Real Estate’s commitment to creating a layered city where space for the arts and culture is valued alongside places to work and to live.
